Rural revitalization is an important means to solve the plight of “agriculture, rural areas and farmers” and achieve common prosperity. Rural assessment is an important part of the promotion of rural revitalization. At present, the assessment work is mostly limited to the analysis of the current situation, but rarely analyzes the future changes through scientific prediction. Based on this, the study takes 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) as the research area, constructs a rural revitalization index system under the orientation of “fivesphere integrated plan”, combines the entropy weight method to measure the rural revitalization index, and uses the BP artificial network neural model to predict the future development trend of each region. The results show that: From 2011 to 2020, the overall rural revitalization index of YREB increased significantly, showing a spatial clustering feature, with the high-level area gradually deepening from the eastern region to the central region. From 2022 to 2026, it is predicted that the rural revitalization index of the YREB will continue to grow, with Shanghai maintaining its dominant position, Zhejiang accelerating to catch up with Shanghai, Jiangsu gradually weakening, and the differences between the remaining provinces and cities will be further reduced.
