By 2021, the urbanization rate of China’s permanent population has reached 64.72%, and urban development has entered a new stage of stock improvement from incremental development. In the process of urban construction, due to the rapid advancement of urbanization and the uniqueness of hilly landforms themselves, there is a lack of scientific and effective quantitative guidance for spatial planning in hilly areas, resulting in environmental degradation and loss of landscape characteristics in hilly areas. This paper combines the spatial syntactic analysis method with the design concept of ecological city, and studies the main problems in the current situation according to the characteristics of urban spatial morphology in hilly areas and specific planning cases, and follows the design principles of sustainable development and regional applicability, and seeks to apply the ecological city development path in hilly areas.
